Terminal Decline became my first piece of sound reactive clothing, and it’s arguably the first time that’s been done. Originally developed using META’s Spark AR software, both the artwork on the back and the tag on the chest reacted to sound in the environment, elements would bounce off the design like a graphic equaliser.

This piece was conceived as a cyberpunk interpretation of the grim reaper, a character I’ve come to know as the Grim Reiver, harvesting your algorithms and returning you to the data stream known as STYX. I like having a bit of background when I’m developing a character, feels more easier somehow. I’d like to do a lot more with this concept.

With the development of my own custom AR app well underway, I intend to fully re-release this project early 2026 with added functionality and new sound reactive graphics. It will never be quite the same as before, but there’s a lot more freedom with my own app, it’s already surpassed everything I was doing with Instagram filters and is going to revolutionise the way you view my work in the future.
The print, plus both the Tee and Hood are still available in store, so if you want to support the project that’s the best way to do so. I’ll be launching a beta of the app live from my website on Christmas day so you can get a demo of what’s to come, it’s a beta release and subject to change, but hopefully with a little debugging during this phase I’ll have a full 1.0 release early in the new year.
